ANNOUNCING THE MIRACLE MILE ART WALK COMMUNITY MARKETPLACE!!

February 17, 2012 (Los Angeles, CA)
--The team behind the Miracle Mile Art Walk (MMAW) is excited to announce their newest sponsor, La Brea, the development of the former Continental Graphics buildings lead by Madison Marquette. In celebration of this new partnership they are working together to create the “Miracle Mile Art Walk Community Marketplace”, located at 173 South La Brea Ave., during the Saturday, March 3rd Miracle Mile Art Walk.

The space provided by Madison Marquette will be utilized and turned into a one-day pop-up “Community Marketplace” in their newly renovated and very stylish development. La Brea, an 84,000 square foot building located between 1st and 2nd Street on South La Brea Avenue is owned and operated by Madison Marquette, a leading investor, developer, and operator of retail and mixed use real estate throughout the United States.

The Miracle Mile Art Walk, now independently produced as a program of Piercy Charitable Foundation will be offering eleven “booth” spaces to licensed cottage industry creative business owners who produce and sell handmade goods honoring practices that promote sustainability, regional legacies or offer “locally grown” ideas and creative services.

La Brea General Manager, Brandt Leitze shares, “Bringing local and regional brands in a co-op atmosphere will not only help raise capital for the Miracle Mile Art Walk, but will also drive awareness to “District La Brea” the newest shopping destination in Los Angeles. Vendors that fit into the La Brea vision and the art walk will be considered. All of the money from the one-day rental of each space will benefit the Miracle Mile Art Walk.”

Also included in this new partnership is all day parking for $1.00 in La Brea’s landmark parking structure painted by Los Angeles based muralist and street artist, Shepard Fairey. In addition, 173 South La Brea Ave, will also serve as the official Miracle Mile Art Walk After-Party from 8-10pm including entertainment, food trucks, and beverages.

Since making the decision to operate independent of the Community Councils due to funding and donation restriction bylaws governed by Los Angeles City Council, the project  producers can now raise funds to increase and build upon the success of this community based art walk located within the largest Arts district, west of the Mississippi. In keeping with the true spirit of community, the area Community Councils will still work together in support of the Art Walk.

The Miracle Mile “Art Walk” Gallery and Studio Tour is a  FREE, self-guided art exhibition tour and features more than 50 galleries, studios, museums and public art installations located in the Mid City West community of Los Angeles. Pre-scheduled artist conversations and gallerist lead tours and talks, opening/closing receptions, book signings, and live painting exhibitions are planned in advance in conjunction with the art walk, followed by an after party hosted by one of the Miracle Mile Art Walk sponsors.

Also happening during the Miracle Mile Art Walk and returning to the Berlin Wall Monument at 5900 Wilshire Blvd is internationally renowned Master Muralist and Grand Scale Artist, Kent Twitchell, who will be adding detail to his portrait of President John F. Kennedy.  Mr. Twitchell is also Co-Founder of The Mural Conservancy Los Angeles.
