INTO THE MYSTIC

(group exhibition)

Opening Reception: 6-8pm

LARRY BELL, WALLACE BERMAN, VIJA CELMINS, BRUCE CONNER, MARTIN CREED
JOE GOODE, AGNES MARTIN, ED RUSCHA, DAVID BENJAMIN SHERRY, SIMMONS & BURKE, MARK TANSEY, FRED TOMASELLI, BILL VIOLA,JACK WHITTEN The Michael Kohn Gallery is pleased to present a group exhibition focused on the aesthetic contemplation of mysticism in both contemporary art practice and contemporary practices of looking at art.  This exhibition brings to light a certain Grand Theme—an aspect of introspection and perceived reality when looking at works of art that explores the rich inner landscape of one’s consciousness, both sacred and profane. There is a strong strain of mysticism among some Californian artists working during the 1960s and 70s, and their work will be represented by paintings, collage and light sculpture. Similarly, this quality of allusiveness, of poetic touch, can be found in some of the best artists working today like Fred Tomaselli, Vija Celmins and Bill Viola.

MANY THANKS...

To everyone who came to the
Miracle Mile Art Walk Gallery & Studio Tour,
on Saturday October 6th!
We are very grateful for the support given to independently owned and operated ART galleries, in addition to those who run them, and those who are shown inside their walls.

We also give thanks to the many sponsors, community supporters, staff and volunteers that have helped to get this new art walk up and running and look forward to many more in the future, beginning in Spring of 2013.

In between, be sure to check back as there will be special programs and events happening. For questions, to receive an on-line version of the Inaugural Miracle Mile Art Walk Gallery & Studio Tour magazine, or to learn more about the galleries and surrounding area, please e-mail: MMAWMidCityLA@gmail.com.

Thanks again for supporting ART in Los Angeles!

Since it is now an independent project, the Director is responsible for raising much needed funding allowing it to blossom and expand! We are now allowed to offer sponsorships, in addition to once again receiving in-kind donations.
